Dr. Wendy Humphrey grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. In 2003 Dr. Wendy received her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry. Following dental school, she completed a year-long general practice residency at the University of Kentucky. This was followed by a four-year combined residency and faculty position at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she received her certificate in pediatric dentistry. This rigorous training in a clinical and hospital setting helped her acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the needs of children. In addition to her training, Dr. Humphrey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. To reach this Diplomate status, Dr. Humphrey had to successfully pass rigorous written and oral examinations.
Dr. Wendy’s fondness for dentistry came at a very young age when she was a frequent patient in her dentist’s office. Her mother, a hygienist, encouraged her to pursue dentistry as a profession. Despite having 11 primary teeth extracted, she still loved going to the dentist. She is passionate about educating her families in preventing dental disease and helping her patients achieve a beautiful and healthy smile.
As a mother, Dr. Wendy appreciates the extremely important decisions parents must make in the care of their children’s teeth. She provides families with the information they need to make the best decisions possible for their family’s dental welfare. She provides children with individualized care and dental health care choices to suit their specific needs.
Dr. Wendy is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Kentucky Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and Blue Grass Dental Society.
She resides in Lexington, with her husband, Chris Van Meter, and their children, Caroline and Cooper. When not at the office, Dr. Wendy enjoys reading, ballroom dancing, scuba diving, and traveling. She is also an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan.
